The Global Cardboard Challenge is a worldwide celebration of  creativity and the role communities can play in fostering it. In the month of September, students are challenged to create and build using cardboard, recycled materials and imagination. Then on October 7th, 2017 [(celebrating the anniversary of the flash mob that came out to make Caine’s day in the short film) below] communities all around the world will come together and share!

CWMS is participating in the Global Cardboard Challenge because it...

  • engages students to work together with a similar goal as we introduce this new opportunity of Makerspaces
  • fosters creativity, ingenuity, resourcefulness, perseverance and teamwork
  • gives students an opportunity to explore their interests and passions, and make things that have an impact on others
  • provides a platform for communities to actively foster and celebrate individual creativity
  • increases global happiness and makes for a happier, more productive, as well as playful, world that is FUN!

The Cardboard Challenge can be used by parents and teachers to teach a wide variety of skills and subjects. Through the Cardboard Challenge, students have learned math, engineering and other STEM related concepts, writing, design thinking, creative problem solving, sustainability, social entrepreneurship and more. The Challenge is a great way to kick off the school year and get students excited about their school and learning.

Let Caden inspire you to test your imagination and limits. Find something you are passionate about or a problem to solve and see what you can create.

Setting the Stage

WHAT: Use cardboard to create anything of interest to you!

WHEN: We plan to use PLUS time to plan, design, and build. You may use this time in the media center, time at home, or see Ms. Holleman if you need more time to be scheduled for you.

WHERE: CWMS media center or anywhere else of your convenience

WHO: You can build alone or collaborate with others (parents, friends of any age, or experts).

Remember: a Cardboard Challenge can happen anywhere and no two Cardboard Challenge products will be the same, so just have fun, be creative and make it your own!
